I’ll Never Lose Her Now She woke up fumblin'---lookin' for another cover--- she said her feet were cold. I know I should get up---the pilot light's out again--- but I lay here listenin' to this December wind. And all she knows is she'll never lose me now. When I was younger I used to dream---I used to wonder--- tryin' to picture this. I never imagined this kind of achin' cold--- I don't know how it happened, but we're finally gettin' old. And all I know is I can't lose her now. Interlude The early mornin' city sounds---through our window--- bring me back again. The frost in the air was never quite like this--- and closing my eyes as it carries me off in bliss--- all I know is I'll never lose her now. All I know is I'll never lose her now. by Dwight Newman © 2000 Sandthistle Music / ASCAP This is from my latest album "The Sandhill Waltz" which is a collection of songs from my days in Minnnesota and Kansas City. It was written by my brother Dwight. The original version was written years ago- approximately '81, 82 and then recently in the past 7 years or so has been re-written and polished up a bit lyrically. I'm playing my Gibson lg3 for both the lead and second guitar parts. You can also hear Dwight perform this in the song selections along with "Wish You Knew" - a song we co-wrote, and also two other songs of his - "How Long" and "The 103rd Psalms". |
